SATURDAY - LEAVING HOME
Leaving Sydney very early it was not too bad travelling out
on the M7. Once we were on the Hume Freeway it was relatively quiet too. The
sky divers were out early as well with three parachutes coming down just as we
approached.
We soon had the USB on shuffle. Stopping briefly at Trappers
Bakery, Goulburn for a break. The weather was kind too. We enjoy this part of
the world, the beautiful rolling hills, farmhouses perched atop.
We stopped at Lake Albert just on the outskirts of Wagga
Wagga where we had our picnic lunch. No time to walk the perimeter of the lake
– another time.
Once we were through Narrandera, we were once again
travelling across the Hay Plain. It hasn’t changed. Still I find it
interesting. The road is straight, so not so interesting for the driver.
Our overnight stop in Hay was conveniently located on the
edge of town. We had planned to dine in as the restaurant came well
recommended. Unfortunately for us, the chef was getting married that day so the
restaurant was closed. Instead, we were recommended the Chinese at the Bowlo.
That indeed was a good recommendation!
