After mooring along the river overnight, we left our mooring
to head to Mannum up River. It was lovely cruising along on what was promising
to be a lovely day. We arrived in Mannum around 10am and a coach came to
collect us for a town tour.
Mannum has a rich history, all associated with its location
on the river. It was lovely being driven around learning about how the town
developed and how it is now becoming, once again, a desirable place to live.
Mannum Waters was especially interesting as a relatively new artificial canal
community with access to the river. Originally developed to remove the
houseboats from the main channel this has become a win win for the river
community. Previously, some 180+ houseboats moored along the river’s edge. Almost all are now moored in this newly developed canal community.
